About Signed An RN

“Signed An RN” was created for the nurse, aspiring nurse, healthcare professional, etc., that needs a space that’s relatable and non-judgmental that offers an opportunity to feel understood. Healthcare professionals prioritize the lives of others over themselves daily despite many days of feeling overwhelmed, undervalued, fatigued, emotional and inadequate.

Contrarily, you have the moments that remind you of why you chose the profession in which you did. For me, it’s nursing. Helping someone through a moment of fear, a new diagnosis, a first time or major surgery, providing a listening ear or just showing someone you care— are just a few key elements of nursing that show you that you’re doing what you were meant to do.

But what about the moments you question if you’re doing exactly what you want to do? Personally, I felt guilty for wanting to leave bedside, for calling off because I was just too tired or for even questioning my decision to become a nurse. These are all normal thoughts. “Signed an RN” is a transparent insight into my 7 year journey as a nurse.

My hope is that it offers some insight into the world of nursing from an RN’s perspective. An RN who started nursing as a new mother at the age of 31. An RN who worked bedside for just three years and decided to leave. An RN who felt undecided on which direction to go so quickly into her journey.
Nursing is a roller coaster ride with many highs and lows. I’ll be sharing some of those fearful yet thrilling experiences in this blog.
